I plan on putting a new clutch/pressure plate/flywheel in this weekend. At the same time i plan on changing tranny fluid while i'm in there. I was wondering could I use GM Synchromesh? Or should I use Dexron auto tranny fluid? Also is the pilot bearing on newgmparts.com the same as a throwout bearing? Thanks in advance guys.

Yea I read that before posting. Wondered what kind of fluid everyone else on the board was using. still a little curious as to where I can buy a throw out bearing online. Any ideas?

Actually, I used Royal Purple in my tranny. I'm not convinced there's any dramatic difference from one kind to the next, though.

Throw out bearing? If it was me, I'd call Luke at Lindsay Cadillac tomorrow morning. If he's got one, he can ship it out same day, and his prices are quite reasonable.

Is your bearing shot? Are you getting a grinding or loud humming sound when you push the clutch in?

I don't think its bad, but i figured while I was in there mine as well change it also.

I believe the TOB is part of the slave assembly, pilot bearing is not the same.

I get that grinding sound when im slowly coming off the clutch at a slow rpm. bugs the hell out of me.
