Is there any 'trick' to removing the a-pillar cover?... or is it just a matter of giving it a little squeeze and pop it off?

I'm installing another dash cam and suspect I'll have a bit of extra cable to hide and that will be the easiest place.

Nope, just pull it right off like a vulcan. You don't want to pull the console trim next to the shifter off like a vulcan though because it has screws. I did to hide the wire going to the outlet.

So what holds it in place?... clips?

Plastic clips if I recall correctly. I pull my passenger side one off a couple of times over the leaky sunroof drain tube.

Plastic clips and that white thing you see in the pic is the air bag so careful not to set that off. The whole thing is kept on with a tie wrap so it just hangs there. What kind of dash cam did you get? Can you post a pic after install?
