Getting a few things tidied up to my likings on this ole jewel.. Decided to do a plug and wire change and a 160 stat with fresh coolant and watter wetter. This all stemmed from needing to swap the leaking front coolant crossover pipe and being 105k miles I wasn't sure if plugs were original or not. One thing leads to another usually. And such the case I'm also doing some much needed cleaning. Once I'm finished the engine bay is getting a good soak down and wash albeit carefully. :yup:

Curious as to how you made out with removing the plugs. I did my plugs/wires at 105,000 and they were locked in tight. Probably originals... Got a few busted knuckles in the process. Also, did you save the boot shields on the wires? My replacements didn't have them and the originals were banged up pretty bad so I chucked them.

The plugs were locked in pretty tight as well. I basically added an extension to the ratchet handle for more leverage to do the initial "break" to start off. So instead of the ratchet handle being x long I made it xx long. My extension consisted of using an actual 3/8 socket extension and a socket tight enough to go around the end of the ratchet handle. Does that make sense? The plug wires were more of a bitch than the wires as they were completely dried up to the plug end. I ended up figuring out additional leverage in this situation as well. Pliers and a big pry bar. :yup: Also I did not reuse the factory shields. I decided to toss them.
