First, i want to ask, what defines the white or silver lower body mouldings on Broughams. Mine has white, but i see alot of silver delegances. Is silver for the D elegance?
I am going to keep mine white, they get painted this week

Then, i swaped my center caps to ones with gold crests. I think Cadillac should have made this standard on these caps. It looks SOO good on a clean white car with clean white walls. How do yu guys clean your wire wheel caps, to be shinny, not just clean, like its dull/dirty in the spokes where i cant reach.

New top monday.

I've always wondered the same thing about wheels like that--how the heck do you FULLY clean them? Or at least clean them to the point that there isn't visible dullness or dirt.

Regardless, I couldn't stand having to do it.;)

The only way I know to clean the wire hub caps is to pressure wash them. First put some kind of cleaner (I usually use simple green), try to sponge them pretty good and then use a pressure washer. Works for me but in all honesty, I'm looking to lose the hub caps and white walls in the not too distant future.

AHH nO!! White walls and wire wheel caps (unless your going to real wire wheels and vogues) They have to stay!

i could always take each spoke out and clean them for once, they would look good. HA yea right.

ILUVCADDYS, thanks! I finished the antenna (that was a bitch to change) last major thing is that damn leak under the dash!!
It will look great after the new top!! And after i repaint the lower trim. Debating on a conti kit. I have one that i got for free, but i dont know if i want to put it on.

On your body style, the lower moldings are keyed to the color of the car. So they are meant to match the paint on your car. On the '93-'96 cars they went with a chrome to match the bumpers.
As for the wreath and crest ornamentation on these cars, Devilles have always had just the crest, while the Fleetwoods have the crest and wreath. This was usually on all body ornamentation including the wheel caps. And as far as using gold or silver, that usually depended on whether the car had the optional gold trim package or not.
As for cleaning the wheel covers, try a spray-on cleaner meant for wire wheels. All auto parts stores carry them. You just stray it on and hose it off. They are usually a heavily alkaline based cleaner with a surfactant that gets into all the little nooks and crannies and lifts of the road grime and brake dust. Something that all the power-washing and scrubbing will never reach.

Try this: Get a pan or container that can fit your hubcap. Fill so it's submerged in water. Add those fizzy denture cleaners. I use this technique on jewellery and it makes them sparkle. Could work on hubcaps too.

I'm looking for a white 1990-1992 Brougham just like yours. Hopefully I'll find one in good shape for a reasonable price someday.

Kat is correct. 90-92 Broughams came with either light antelope or silver lower body molding. However, 3 color combinations came with the same lower body molding color as the car, such as your white Brougham.

Almost all of those Broughams had grey door bottoms. There was only a couple colours that they are the same colour as the car and like 90Brougham350 said light antelope is one of them. I think white cars were only supposed to have grey door bottoms too and if they're white it's because someone painted them before. Or at least I'm pretty sure that I read that somewhere before. It didn't depend on if it was a Brougham or a Brougham D'Elegance.

I don't know if the hubaps look better with the gold emblems or not. I don't like those wire hubcaps. If I bought a Brougham that had them I'd get rid of them and either put the plain metal hubcaps on it or try to find some real wire wheels for it.

Hello!

I just pulled out a Brougham color chart - - a 1992 in particular. Only two colors were standard only as monotone (upper and lower colors matching): Platinum (silver) and Antelope Firemist. If option code "D83" was ordered, the standard Platinum lower color was replaced with the upper color matching the lower color (monotone) for the following colors: Light Saphire Blue, Cotillion White, Sable Black. The remaining colors came only with the silver bottom: Black Saphire, Victorian Red, Maple Red, Academy Gray, Saphire Blue Firemist.

All colors had a matching vinyl top standard.

Good luck with the project!

Do youi know how much the D83 option was, or was it free?

Cotillion White huh? Nice!!
I got the new top on, and it looks so much better!! Although a differnt pattern of material.
Pics?:)

Is it smooth with like a textured carpet sort of pattern in the vinyl, or is it made up of a lot of little "goose bumps"?
