hey everyone. Recently i convinced a friend of mine to go out and get a nice classy car, and he ended up with a 1991 cadillac deville. Seems to be pretty nice (personally, i own a 1990 Chrysler Imperial, please don't shun me :)) i just had a few questions...

first... i was wondering how hard it would be to install a digital dash. this model has the climate control, fuel info but a anolog guage cluster. I'm assuming there was a digital dash option for these cars. is all the wiring there, or would it be a big job to swap one in(rewireing etc)

2nd... the car is more of a base model, lacking a cloth/landuea top. i was wondering how hard it would be to find one of these and install it on his. how hard are they to remove/install?

Lastly, his 4.9 v8 sometimes stumbles under hard acceleration... i added some fuel injector cleaner and it helped the problem alot(i was suprised that it actually did anything), but it still has this problem intermitantly

1. Forget it, I've never heard of anyone doing it. I know it's NOT just a "plug 'n play" kind of thing.
2. Piece of cake, usually about $1500
3. Depending on age/mileage:
a. Tune-up
b. Top Engine cleaner (for carbon)
c. Clean Throttle Body

Thanks for the info... i was assuming it wasn't (one person has tried to retrofit a digital dash into a AC/AY body (imperial/newyorker/dynasty) and it was a crazy electronic mess... i don't know if he got it to all work yet or not... Maybe if i'm lucky i can find one of those tops in a yard that is still in good shape (i don't think the guy has $1500 to spend on it) The engine does have around 145k miles on it... so its most likely in dire need of a tune up and etc. thanks for your help

I have wondered about the digital dash too....

....being that the speedo is electrical and not mechanical, I am pretty sure both clusters use the same 2 main connectors, so they MAY work....

....I was gonna do it too......'till I found out just how rare my car is....

Ok, I gotta ask, Whats the deal with your coupe? Whys it so rare? I know its a 93 right? Last year of the 2 door DeVille.

I tried to convert my dash in a older caddy and I couldnt, but I can't remember why!

yeah, '93 is the last year for the Coupe DeVille....ever....my car also has gold badge package, but most of all, the color, Slate Bronze Metallic, was ONLY avaliable in '93....that and the above mentioned things makes my car 1 of only 119 made....

hermz, I owned a 1993 Imperial, 2 cars ago. It was a terrific car & I loved it! :bouncy:
So did someone else, for it was stolen on me, and I could not get another one, and that's when I got my present 1993 Cadillac Sixty Special. My Father's cousin was a Chrysler dealer and we got a new Imperial every year! I grew up on them! Welcome to the board! :)
