:welcome:

my car has a irregular idle when I first start it up
and it stops when it warms up

check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes -

if you don't know how - go here and read the ENTIRE post -

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forum...ncluding-1985/138257-how-pull-codes-dtcs.html

if you have any codes - post them here -
ALONG WITH THEIR DEFINITIONS -
--------------------

I don't know if I'm doin something wrong
but when I press econ for my heater to turn on
it turns on but only the floor vents turn on

the ECON button represents ECONOMY MODE -
and all it does is prevents the AC compressor from running -

as far as the heat goes -
you have no control over WHERE the air is discharged from -

heat only comes from the heater - floor - vents - or the defrosters -

the center vents will only supply cold AC air -
or outside ambient temperature air -

this information is in the Climate Control section of the Owners Manual -

Double post fixed. It does that now and then.

Pull the DTCs like Bass said. That may help us a lot. Wouldn't hurt to clean the TB and check for a leaky FPR either.

How old are the plugs, wires, cap & rotor?

If you are new to this forum and your car. The first thing to do is read through all of the "sticky" posts at the top. There is a wealth of info up there to help you understand how to get the most out of your car. You'll save some money too! You can get a lot of diagnostics from the onboard computer, but a code reader is a big help. Do what Ranger suggests. He and several others will really get you on top of the situation with great advice. If you can, get all of the "tune-up" stuff taken care of-filters, cap, rotor, wires, plugs and the battery. Clean the throttle body and fuel pressure regulator (regularly!) and see if that doesn't clear up the idle. If the idle hunts around it might be the throttle position sensor or the throttle position motor, but if it is just running rough, I 'd do the other stuff first. Good luck.
