I have noticed that when I make hard (full lock), slow turns, right or left, I get a low pitched humming/grinding sound from the rear axle. When driving at normal speeds, there is no noise at all that can be heard over the Corsa, and everything seems to be in order.

Has anyone experienced the same sound, or, for those of you who have suffered half shaft and rear gear failures, is this the beginning of a more serious problem?:hmm:

Could be diff chatter - the result of not enough lubricity. Either change your diff fluid and add RedLine Diff treatment or just add the treatment. If it doesn't work, bring it in to the dealer.

Yup, friction modifier. Mine made that god awful noise for 1,700 miles until GM admitted the dealer repaired the rear differential improperly.

BTW, not to thread jack, but.....when I explained the issue with my rear diff' to my "new" dealership they actually defended the old dealership saying they did the best they could. How's that for lowered expectations? Pretty bad when a forum reading owner is more educated about a vehicle than a ASE GM Certified Techinician. Mr. Goodwrench flunked CTS-V class.

You can always bring it by on Monday and we can take it for a spin around the block...

If it's just the fluid we can swap it out while you wait...

If it's more than the fluid we'll have to arrange for a loaner...

Thanks. I'm going to be nearby on Monday. I'll stop by.

Hmmm. I have just noticed what sounds like the same noise, but only when I make a hard slow turn to manuever into my garage. 9500 miles.....and it is the same lube that has been in my car since my 3K miles. I'll be interested to hear the results of the inspection of Crowans car. And, do we know any more about the redesigned carrier that went into Doug's (CTSV05's) car? IS that what everybody is getting now?
