I have been noticing the the center two vents in my 97 Deville close automatically when The A/C starts blowing hard. I took off the grill and noticed that the flap inside the vents are a little "touchy". Any movement and they close. Is there something I can put on there to help them remain open ? I was thinking of just glueing a small piece of rubber around the little stick that glides inside that rails in the vents to have more friction which I belive will help out. I don't want to permently open the vents because I the car to remain the way it should be. Any hlep would be great

I know of a TSB for 2000 Deville with this problem.
Not sure if yours is designed the same (they all grow to look the same after a while) I think your vents are a little different but what they have us do on the 2000 is install some "shim" washers on the doors to tighten them up.
The washer part number is 5462496

Sometimes we just cut a notch out of the washer and slide it over the shaft after removing the air deflector.
Not sure if this will work on yours, but it might be worth a try.
