1996 Sedan Deville - Quick history... replaced blower motor... while doing so, pulled off the leads to the downward facing A/C switch... it was the middle of winter, so I did not fix immediately.

Battery died, replaced with new

Started getting warmer... no A/C

remembered switch

bought plug with wire leads for switch from dealer, and connected...

Still no A/C... I hit the Auto/Econ button, and it goes to Auto for a second then right back to ECON... no apparent kick on of the compressor....

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help

check your codes on the on board diagnostics. usually when it is stuck in econ, it means your low on freon, but not allways. with ignition on, press and hold the "off" and "warmer" botton, and codes will appear. be ready to write it down. you can clear the code, and "auto" will come on, but won't last long until freon is added.

I pulled codes AC1312 history - AC1347 current - on a 1996 Deville with 97k, but I am not sure how to clear all codes... I find info on the codes and how to check them... but no details on what clears them. I can get to a screen that says clear PCM codes, I clear it, and the codes are still there... engine off or not..... is it triggering the code tat fast?
