99 Sts Vs 95 Gmc Typhoon

My father owes this cute little black 2 door truck called a GMC typhoon, it has AWD and a 4.3l turbo v6. I have always wanted to see how fast it was vs my car so I finally found an excuse to driving my car when he was in the typhoon. As we were on the way to the highway we found each other alone at a red light, so I think might as well try him,so I punch the gas when the light turned green, my tires screamed the car powers froward, I must have gotten my rear bumper to his front bumper before he realized what I has doing and hit the gas. O boy did that thing ever launch of the line, by the time I got to the other side of the street he was at leased 10 cars ahead (honestly).I accepted the smack down and chalked it up to his AWD but vowed to get him on the highway. When we got to the on ramp I new my father new what was up but we were doing about 25mph so that AWD launch was dead. As we rounded the 2 lane on ramp I got beside him, once we were going strait I punched it. tranny down shifted front end lifted and all I saw was small tail lights as my father pulled away like I was standing still (just slightly slower than when at the light), I shut it down at about 120, my car has done over140 but my father was about 20 or more cars ahead so I gave up. Later when I reached our destination after I played catch up I congratulated my father on a good kill.

I would love to know if any of you guys have raced a typhoon with a fast caddy.

I wouldn't race a Typhoon because I'd just be giving my car un-needed wear and tear because I already know the outcome. Good death though! :)
In fact that's not a fair comparison because one car is atmospheric engine the other is overcharging .
Well, I would like to see the outcome of this comparison .
'07 lade (supercharged what D3 does) vs 'GMC Typhoon
The outcome is ............ ;)

Run what you brung and you had better hope it is enough...
But considering an 07 Denali truck runs about 14.70 at 94 mph.(same drive train) It would have to have a very nice supercharger(and supporting mods) to keep up with a Cyclone/Typhoon.
In good air I have seen them run 13.50s at right around 99 MPH bone stock out here in Washington State. Most run anywhere from 13.90 to 13.60 at about 97 MPH.
They are surely nothing to be scoffed at.
Here is good article for you. http://www.sportmachines.com/magrack/hot_truck_10-90.html
I believe in 1991 it was the second fastest vehicle to roll of the assembly line for US Vehicles, the first being the ZR1.
The next two after the Syclone were the L98 M6 Vette and yes don't laugh The Dodge Spirit R/T turbo which was capable of low 14 sec time slips.
The truck was made in 91, the Blazer 92 and 93.
There were no 95 Typhoon/Syclone.
I have not raced one in my Cadillac, but...in the WS6 I have, now on the Juice the WS6 runs 12.20 at 118mph on a 2.1 60 foot time.
On the street from a light I raced one that left me standing still.
Talking to the guy later I found out it was a 10 second truck with the time slips to porve it. Carzy stuff!
They are by far two of my most favorite GM vehicles ever.

sorry you are right my father said it is a 1993 with a biult tranny, bigger fuel pump and injectors and chip. I think thats all he has on it.
That thing must move out pretty good then I assume it is running some extra boost as he has done all the "fuel" mods.
Nice!
I still wish I could afford to put an STS rear mounted turbo on my STS and then see what would happen from a roll with my pops. A tuner in up state New York were my father lives told me it would be $14,000 to put a custom one on my car.
I think I can arrange a Northstar VS Syclone. One of the Body guy's bought a Syclone from Highline Cady several years ago. He drives it rarely, but I can take him with my Northstar. Highline Cady can give you any Mods done on the Syclone. As far as my Northstar it is bone stock except for the program in the PCM. I am running a custom 99 Seville program in it.
I'm sure it was the AWD that gave him the advantage.

LOL

In a Fiero, it must be potent!! Is there somewhere I can see it? I have a supercharged 3800 laying around that I need to use.
I don't see a plain ole run of the mill STS w/ a N* doing it though.
AJ's fiero would be a good run, but the best thing about the Syclones and Typhoons is they were just as fast in the rain. I also used to have so much fun running guys in C5's when they were brand new, jump them by at least a car length off the light and they never could catch up in the 1/4, after that though they ran out of juice rather quickly. Fun trucks, especially in their day.

I wish soooo much to be in WA. I have lived in north of Bellingham and the Vancouver WA area.
Why did you move?
Weather was awesome here today. Played hookey, took the tops of the WS6,filled the bottle and went for a ride!

My dad moved out to WI. He was a industrial Fiber glasser for paper mills. WI has a lot of old paper mills. I was out last year for 17 days.
