I recently replaced a heater servo (actuator) under the dash of my car. Now I have no sound. Radio turns on, and works (display) but no sound whatsoever. Most fatory setups have only one plug, so my assumption is, it must still be plugged in if i have a display on radio (am i wrong?). Anybody have any idea's.. I did a quick look and can find nothing unplugged or broke/pulled out. Anybody have any instructions on pulling radio out? Under hte dash work is a nightmare!!!!

I can’t imagine any situation when the stereo will have display but no sound from working under the dashboard. By the way is that a BOSE or a base set-up?
In any situation there is only ONE connector going into the stereo and that connector has both power and sound going on, not to mention is pretty well secured I would almost trust my life hanging on that harness. Now if you would have BOSE and you worked on the right side of the electronics bay … well that would explain something.
So remove the shifter knob (pull hard) then take the surrounding wood trim and the piece on top of the radio (pull out from corners). Then you have access to the screws holding your stereo and climate control. Remove and have a look in the back of the stereo for all wires to be connected (I suspect a data wire disconnect – PPL wire).
How are your stereo buttons lights working by the way?
Aaaa, if you have BOSE check your AMP fuse (30A), if that’s the culprit you should have not chimes either.

Too late for asking but...any codes (something with B....)?

I have the same problem...No sound...
I had removed the HU to get an idea how difficult it was going to be to remove the ignition switch but eveything worked after I put eveything back together...I checked the fuse for the amp (ok)...Checked voltage going to the amp with voltmeter and power is there...

If the amp is dead is...does anybody know the speaker wiring colors to which speaker it goes too...

Is it possible to add an aftermarket amp with using the same wiring.?:stirpot:

Thanks

I also had this happen to me once. Like clok said try disconnecting the battery for 5mins or so and try it again. Thats what worked for me, but then again my battery needed to be replaced when it happend.

Have you checked the AMP fuse?
Do you get sound from the CD changer? I said CD changer not in-dash CD!
If none of above then don't bother with the HU, check your RIM and AMP fuse. Not sure if '98 and up still have the relays since the amplifier is incorporated in the RIM. If yes, check the relays too.

Do you hear the chimes when you got no sound?
If yes then don't bother with the relays and fuse; check your connectors and wires between RIM and HU.

NO is not possible to replace the amp wit aftermarket, the amp does more than just sound amplification. You will lose your volume control, balance, bass, treble...all the sound controls (including the clock display on HU when the key is off and door is opened).
