Pretty much a simple answer...... nothing. You got the wrong car if you want to hop it up with go fast goodies.

-Tires
-Brake pads
-Rotors
-Dual piston calipers/larger rotors
-ONE cat back exhaust system (Corsa) which will get you ~15 HP high up in the rev range, nothing you can feel.

^^^Thats it^^^

Best/cheapest way to get any significant performance increase would be to sell it and get an STS. Different intake cams and PCM tuning gets you 300 HP instead of your 275, as well as a 3.71 final drive ratio instead of your 3.11.

Exactly what has been said previously - you will find no performance upgrades that are inexpensive. You could do the exhaust system upgrade but 10 to 15 gain in HP is hardly worth the discussion of having it.

Enjoy the car as it is. The thing you could talk about is this was one of the most powerful domestic made FWD cars of it introduction of its 5th generation.

Nope, Nothing. There is almost NO aftermarket support for these cars. MAFs and CAIs make things worse - the PCM is very tight and doesn't like messing with air ratios. Mess with the fuel/air supply and your life becomes complicated from chasing trouble codes and emissions warnings. Been there, done that.

The so-called "performance chip" sold by one company - for $89 - is a 25 cent resistor in a cutesy box with connectors that offsets the IAT value in order to provide a slightly richer fuel mixture. All it really does is to cost you a few mpg of fuel economy and make the inside of the exhaust tips fuzzy black. So-called CAI (the car has a great one as built) usually make nothing more than noise - and noise is power, right ?

It's all in these forums and in Tech Tips and in Engines, Northstar. Study the entire Cadillac Technical Archive way up ^^^ in the top black bar. You'll need the info.

Remember - your car uses the 275 hp engine with an economy 3.11:1 final drive and passive suspension - it's not a track car.

Yep - Find a 2002.5 - 2003 roller cam engine F55 suspension STS - a bit more woof, but still NO speed goodies.

Moist Cabbage: Is or was the Corsa Cat Back system available for the 1999 STS.

Re: 99 SLS performance chip or programmer

The SLS (LD8, VIN Y) has a different engine and PCM tune than the STS (L37, VIN 9) - so the CORSA, if available, will not result in as much power gain anywhere in the power band.

The 1999 and later Seville has a different exhaust system than previous model years.

............ and in the STS you CAN "feel" the difference - on the drag strip with timeslips. Believe it or not, +15 hp way up in the powerband from a bolt-on is very significant.......... it IS the difference between win/lose.

Here's the (now deleted) CORSA dyno graph for a STS - Moist Cabbage's dyno run is damn near a mirror image. (Please notice that the CORSA graph is of a H-rated STS - speed limited to 130 mph. Your speed limiter is the tire rating on the driver's door sticker.)

Here - dig deep and read well .................

Click my username, open the profile. Left column, 2 albums 6 pages of Seville/Northstar stuff - including a pretty comprehensive performance graph for the Seville/Deville lines from about 1994 - Album 2, P.2.

Vehicle speed limiter - set into the PCM (no, you cannot) according to the build list for that car. The letter after the tire specs on the driver's door.
