Has anyone ever replaced the elements in the from heated seats? I have a 99 SLS. The seats do not get warm. There is a clicking going on when I put the switch on. Could it be the control module located under the seat causing the problem? How involved is it to replace the elements? BTW Ive been reading these threads and it display just how classy the majority of Cadillac owners are.

Looking back at some of the posts, this seems to be a common problem. Most of the problems seem to be in the elements and not the control modules. Has anyone ever replaced these elements?

i had a monte carlo SS 2003 with heat seats and they went out. It was still under the factory. They told me the heat seat coil came with the leather, it was one piece. That what for what it is worth.

The elements arent in the leather. There's part #'s which I have around here somewhere. Total cost for both elements was something like $150. Ill post the #'s if I can find them. I plan on getting them for whenever I get around to replacing.

The bottom elements are probably easier than the back ones. Use a ohmmeter to see if you have an open element. There are plugs under the seat. Refer to service manual. Mine showed open on the bottom element. All the repair shops wanted to take the seat out of the car to make the repair. After I thought about it a while I figured I would try to take the leather seat cover off myself. 20 minutes later I found out why it was showing open. The element had been repaired under warranty. The technician was using the solder joint as a mechanical joint. Didn't even twist the wires together. Also did not insulate the exposed wires from the element to the harness. Burnt the seat cover. At this point I am not a very happy Cadillac owner. :banghead: I will be meeting with the "service" manager to resolve this issue. I have been told the element can be serviced as part of the seat cover or seperately. The part # for the element is 25755076, about $90. If anyone know of an aftermarket source for elements please post vendor contact info. Thanks.

gmpartsdirect has that element for $55. I cant find the part numbers. Even tried searching through the forums. But there were 2 part #'s. Im currently in emails with someone who says it can be fixed for around $150. Ill let you guys know what I find out. Ill see if my dealer will look up the part #'s for me also.

I cant see both being bad (what are the odds?). Maybe its a continuous circuit or something, bottom bad electricity stops there? I see the bottom element getting most of the abuse, and hopefully thats it. From reading posts from the past, its easier to fix/replace bottom verses the top.
