So my temperature gage is going to the line after the midway point. I keep having to fill my coolant because its getting to hot and coming out of my overflow hose. Also the fans on the radiator are not working. Thats pretty much it i dont know where to begin to find what the problem is so any advice would be great thanks

Any diagnostic codes?

Go here to learn how to list the codes: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forum...ldorado-forum/138258-how-pull-codes-dtcs.html

Please be sure to list the codes WITH THEIR DEFINITIONS here.

I think the 'smoking gun' here is the fact that your radiator fans are not turning on. I wonder if you'll see code P1660 - Cooling Fan Control Circuits

Also, check the cooling fan 50A fuse. It might be blown.

when i read the manual it said this plz pay close attention: If you car overheats and the electronic fans don't turn on whether your car is on or off it may need to be serviced meaning you need to have those fans checked out because if your car overheats whether you have it on or off those fans should come on try to cool the sucker down, Good Luck :D

If the temp gauge goes to the next line and comes back its likely the fans are working.

But you might be overheating because of low coolant due to the surge tank cap not holding pressure.

I highly recommend a new cap and a system pressure test before you replace any parts. Some parts stores loan tools for free I use Autozone. Mike

Fans turn on about 224 degrees. Coolant out the overflow means one of two things. Either a bad cap or a bad HG. Being a '99 you might want to borrow a block test kit from AutoZone (just pay for the test fluid) and run the test to see if you have exhaust gases in the cooling system before spending any money on parts.

Ahh, but be careful..when you say that you have to keep FILLING it, how much are you actually FILLING? Another reason for coolant to expell out the overflow is OVERFILLING

I'd have to agree. If the cooling fans arent functioning, adding coolant is pointless.

I cannot stress this enough:
