Hey guys. New to this forum but not "new" to forums in general. I've searched and couldn't find my exact issue. If the answer is out there please point me that way.
Here's the problem. This morning went out to the Caddy, turned the key and while I turned it to crank it felt as though something broke? Now the digital dash doesn't come on, but the radio is on? I could turn the key but the radio won't shut off and the key won't come out? I have pulled the neg. cable for now to prevent battery drain. So i've came on here to try to get an idea on what could have caused this? Don't know if it's connected but the sterring wheel controls haven't worked but do light up. And the other day it did seem to have a hard time starting, but thats the only time I had an issue with that. Caddy is a 1999 Deville w/ 47,000 miles. Has the Delegance trim package.

Thanks!

Sounds like mechanical damage to the lock cylinder possibly jamming your key in Accessory position, shorting the radio to stay on. (but some say I have an active imagination. LOL!) or maybe 2 separate issues.

IMPORTANT Warning to note! You should disconnect the "Supplemental Inflatable Restraint" before diagnosing any steering column troubles. God help you if that thing went off accidentaly since it is "able to maintain sufficient voltage to cause a deployment for up to 10 minutes after the ignition switch is turned off and the battery is disconnected"! Not sure on your car but it's I/P fuse #18 on mine. It would be labeled on the fuse cover. The FSM also says "for safety" that the connector should be unplugged if you have to get into the dash to solve your problem. That would be an obvious separate 2-way yellow-colored harness under the RH side at the base of the steering column with a lock-pin in it.

Any radio fuse(s) could be removed too til you can get your key out.
