My turn signals randomly quit working. Ill turn either side on, and sometimes they will work fine, other times they just stay on for a few seconds then shut off. Bulbs are fine.

Replace your flasher, you'll have to remove the light switch to get to it. Search the forum for a more detailed guide.
It could be the mechanical flasher, which is relatively cheap and generally easy to replace. On the '97 deville, it's under the dash just to the left of steering wheel column

There is also one on the right side, which is for the emergency flashers.

It could also be the actual turn signal switch and/or some crazy wiring issue [like a poor ground or power to the flasher].

As a quick, relatively easy and free test, try replacing the turn signal flasher with the emergency flasher and see how it works.

put the emergency 4-ways on -
if all lights flash correctly -
the problem is NOT bulbs/sockets/grounds/wiring -

that narrows it down to the flasher or the switch -
I would try replacing the flasher I had to in mine because the turn signals quit blinking and stayed solid. with the new flasher it works fine. The part was relatively cheap I believe it was $15, I had to buy it off ebay they didn't have it at autozone. It easier to get to it by prying out the headlight switch then taking apart the dash

Pry headlight switch? My 98 Deville is intermittent. Clicker making an odd sound, like relay chattering when
it works. How do I pry out the headlight switch?
Take an interior tool and literally pry around the switch and it will pop off. On DeVille of this era it is easiest to get to flashers by removing panel uner dash(couple 7mm headed screws). There are 2 flashers, one turn and one hazards.
Tried going under dash. Couldn'the even see it. Popped out light switch panel and very simple! Thanks!
