Pros: Powerful, quiet, glide on air suspension

Cons: Heavy(hurts manuevarability), fake wood, cheap speakers, 112 mph limit, gas consumption

I bought the car when I came from Iraq. It had about 42,000 miles on it. It is pretty quick for a heavy car. I beat a 05' Mustang GT with it from a 45 mile an hour rolling start. The engine sounds beautiful when you hit it hard. It is smooth on the highway and feels like I am floating. Handling is bad though because of the weight of the car when you go around corners and when you try to slow down quickly. I recommend some good following distance because the car in front most likely will stop a lot quicker than the Deville can. Acceleration is very brisk, especially on the highway when you need to pass someone. I love the way it will cruise to 100 mph without you even knowing you are going that fast. You cannot tell your speed unless you look at the speedometer. I have been at 110 mph and didn't know until I looked down. I don't like the 112 mph limiter. It gets to 112 mph so fast and you feel like you want to go faster but you can't. Hopefully someone will find out how to fix that so we all can enjoy the full potential of the Northstar.

How is the wind and road noise level compared to other luxury cars?

Thanks for your service btw.
Well, I can jump in on this one.

It is quieter than a 2000-2005 DeVille, it is nearly as quiet as a 98 Mercedes S600.

Road noise is basically non existant, riding on thise vats of liquid silk. There is some wind noise, but it is hardly noticable, it can be noticed more in the rear of the car. Particularly at speeds upwards of 60mph.

Otherwise, the car is, although very sloppy in corners, it is smooth enough to remove your own appendix whilst travelling at 90mph.
I have a 98 and find that it although not a sports car handles very well and predictably in the corners.

Agreed, but I am in the UK :D we have corners that could make an American car designed have a stroke

ive got a 97, and i assume its basically the same vehicle, save for minor technical differences, if any. im not sure. i whole-heartedly concur with your pros, but the cons...ouch

i think for a car of its size, it handles quite well. its obviously not a sports car, but still for a car of this length and weight, it takes to the road very good. especially considering its front wheel drive. the wood trim, not the best, i agree, but its rather subtle and they didnt overdo it. i cant complain then. cheap speakers? for the base audio system i have, its amazing. i swapped the head unit for a cd, and loaded my trunk, but even still those stock speakers especially the front, hit the highs like you were at an opera house.

is it limited to 112? about a month ago my digital speedo read 120, and no fuel cut off message or anything ever came on.:hmm: and even at 120 it was pulling pretty hard. i backed off cuz the steering got real tight and it scared the pi.ss out of me though.

and the gas issue? no reason you cant get atleast 18mpg with the n*. its a v8, in a heavy car, built to have the living sh.it kicked out of it. im more than happy with getting 20mpg under those circumstances.

but enjoy your 99. its made to cruise, we can all agree on that! my parents have got one as well. =]
