97 Deville Stereo Question

i got a 97 deville that came with the stock tape am/fm player.. my friend has a 98 deville with a stock cd player.. would that cd player fit right in (size and connections), or would i just have to go out and buy an aftermarket one?? or is there another one out there that will fit right in??

the reason im asking is that the deck it came with has something wrong with it.. i think the fade knob is messed up because it only plays the rear speakers, sometimes the front too if i hit a large enough bump but then goes back to only rear.. i wanna get a stock cd unit so i wont lose the steering wheel controls.. anyone know or that can help out, i'd really appreciate it..
