My 96 Blower Motor has quit working. Had her checked out and the voltage coming from the acm (air conditioner control module) is dead. My mechanic says that it's gonna need to be replaced. So far my Cadillac dealer has quoted either $450 or $750 for the module. It's VIN dependent. I didn't have the VIN # when I called. My question? Are there any other sources for this part? If it is delaer only I'll bite the bullet. Thanks for any help. Great forum.

Usually it's just the blower motor, and not the ACM. The design leaves the blower vulnerable to heat and electrostatic energy from the engine and coilpack/plug wires.

I've also heard the plug fails sometimes (and I purchased a plug for that reason, but never needed it--it was the blower).

You can get parts much cheaper at http://www.rockauto.com or http://wwwgmpartsdirect.com. Having said that, I agree with mtflight. When mine went out on a '97 Deville, everything seemed to point to the ACM. I went with my instink as the ACM is pretty reliable. It was the blower. Both parts are expensive but the ACM is much more so. Better be sure.
