I started getting this code about a week ago, I did notice that the acceleration was kind of staggering; also my speedometer was acting a bit funny.....Any ideas on what could be happening and how much I’m looking at to get it fixed?

This has been discussed many times before. Do a search for it. The speed sensor is in the tranny.
Enter the onboard diagnostics and get the stored DTC's (diagnostic trouble codes). There are two speed sensors, VSS (vehicle speed sensor) which is mounted on the right output shaft housing. It is accessable through the right wheel well and is pretty cheap. Then there is the Input Speed Sensor which is a $20 part located $2000 deep in the trans.
