Everyone,

Last night, started Eldorado and immediately noticed a rough idle and in reverse and drive while traveling. Through the gas pedal, I felt a rough running engine, as if not getting enough fuel I believe. Somewhat like running over rumble strips. The car has 53,000 original miles. Yes, it does. I'm in Japan and purchased it here locally, and will be taking it to a local delaer next Wednesday. I'm hoping to find an answer before then. My 'right oxygen sensor' light trouble code activates every other day, and has for the past month; and it seems, now looking back, that at start-up occasionally recently, the Caddy has hesitated ever so slightly at ignition. That may be paranoia. :)

Any assistance, comments, or advice is appreciated.

Scott

My guess is the dealer is going to replace that O2 sensor first thing. You could save yourself some dough and maybe even fix the problem if you do it yourself.

The mileage doesn't surprise me, there's no place to drive over there. I rode my bike or took trains.

Ranger, Ecstatic,

Pulled the codes. I'll have them replace the )2 Sensor, while they are also replacing 'P119" (Open or Shorted Fuel Injector). That's the proble.

Thanks for reading and offering your assistance. Should have pulled the codes, before posting. Right as always Ranger. :)

Yanase, the Cadillac dealer here in Japan, cannot find a thing wrong with the injectors, and the condition has not reappeared since last Thursday. Anyone have any ideas as to what happened. They are continue to look for the root cause, possibly defective fuel here which sometimes has water in it. I'm going to buy additiive to counteract that from now on.

Also, their estimate to replace the 02 senor is, can you believe it...$4,000.00. Not this kid.

Thanks for any comments relative to the injestor issue.

Bad fuel would not set an injector code. That code is set when the resistance of the injector is too high or too low. Generally too high, as in the injector is open circuit. It could be intermittently failing. It will go eventually.

With the yen currently running around 100:1, I'd guess that's $400, not bad for an overseas job and the O2 sensor cost in Japan. Isn't that sensor the one in the top of the right exhaust manifold ?

Post #1 says "right oxygen sensor".

If this is one with manifold sensors and the before and after cat sensors, that "right oxygen sensor" is a bear.
