I have a 95 Deville 4.9L V8

Ever since I have had the car it throws DTC P039 when going up slight inclines at highway speeds. TCC Engagement Problem. Gets average 17mpg with some interstate/mostly stop and go driving. Any advice?

engine rpm is higher than the default value could be slipping clutches in the torque converter, faulty brake/tcc switch, leakage in the hydraulic circuit or a bad map (manifold absolute pressure) sensor.

Bad map? I think that is what the pcm uses to determines the fault value.

Hopefully a trans tech will jump in here and help us out. Mike

The HG's don't need to be replaced on this one(The 95).....it's the 98 that needs the HG's

Ahh, in that case, live with it. The cost of repair far outweighs the benefit.
