So.. I've been looking at some pictures and I haven't seen the option. Does it have it? You know - when you're going through an area that smells bad - or is smokey - or something - you'd rather recycle the air in the cabin rather than take air in from outside...

My 96 doesn't have that option. Wish it did. :(

You also CANNOT control where the airflow goes (aside from the defroster setting for the windshield). It sends it wherever it wants. I prefer to have control over my vents, but the FW doesn't allow it. It's one of my gripes with the car... But I got used to it.

All you have control over is whether the ac compressor cycles on or off. In "econ" mode, no ac. In "auto" mode, compressor clicks on and off. That's all you can control, aside from temp and fan speed.

I got used to leaving it at 68* and only bump it down to 65* when I'm over hot. Otherwise, it stays on auto at 68*. Yah just get used to it... :(

To be honest, I'm not aware of Cadillac using that (mainly import) feature. GM usually uses recirc. air only when "MAX" A/C is selected (manually or automatically by the computer) in an effort to more quickly cool off the interior. For years, I've had people tell me that they thought that selecting "MAX" A/C caused an even higher blower speed than "HI" does. Actually, the extra noise heard when selecting "MAX" is only due to the recirc vent opening and then allowing the occupants to hear the fan more readily. As soon as "MAX" is de-selected, interior noise level reduces due to the vent closing, not due to a reduction in fan speed. Either way, selecting "RECIRC" on a system that provides the seperate setting only increases the percentage if interior air into the system. It DOES NOT eliminate outside air being brought in. By law, all OEMs must have a constant flow of outside air into the car. Even when the blower is "OFF", you are still getting outside air into your car.
