'94Dev. A/c Compressor and belt question

I have a '94 Deville 4.9liter.
My A/c Compressor is about to s#!t itself and I need to know what are my options in this matter. can just the clutch and pully be replaced without getting a whole new compressor and dumping a ton of money? and, does anyone know offhand the size belt i need to bypasss the ac or at least the best way to figure it out until i get the money to fix this problem?

The clutch can be replaced seperately if that is the problem. To bypass the compressor, use a 74" belt.
alright! thank you! i'm goin to get the belt right now. will bypassing the compressor cause any computer problems or any other adverse effects? and the sound coming from the compressor is a loud, constant rattling that increases in severity when the compressor clutch engages. do you think it may be a bearing in the clutch or pully that i might be able to get away with replacing cheap, or is the whole thing about to die? Thanks for your help!
bypassing the compressor won't set any DTC's or cause any problems.

If the ratteling is only with the A/C on, then it is the compressor. If it rattles all the time, then it is the clutch. You do need some specail tools to R & R the clutch.
WOW, that says 62" belt. I got the 74" from another post at Caddyinfo. Sorry if I gave you wrong info. Let use know which is correct please.

I noticed the 12 in difference after posting aswell, I was going to try the bypass too, but being in Texas I think fixing my a/c would be a better solution lol
bassmeant,
You say the noise is worse with A/C on. It would be in the pulley bearing if it happens at all while the compressor is off. As Ranger said you'll need a few special tools, but it can be very cheap to fix - DIY style.
I'd fix a pulley if the compressor still works. Good luck.
ya the 62" belt works like a charm. im gonna buy the clutch next week. thanks alot everyone.

p.s. sorry i wrote a question that was already answered in the forum. i try searches but never seem to find what im looking for
