Did some searching around and it sounds like the flasher relay thing is probably the cause, but figured I'd ask for feedback in case I'm wrong. Basically the other day I started hearing a fast clicking noise (or the noise of something shorting maybe?) coming from I assume the steering column when I was using the turn signals. They started to glitch a bit and stop flashing after a few seconds. Now they don't flash at all. The front side highbeam lights still activate but nothing else happens.

So would this be the turn signal flasher or a problem elsewhere?

yeah probably a bulb if you're lucky. It's the most likely cause and cheap/easy to check and fix.

Bulbs all looked good but I might check again. The local parts store didn't stock the flasher so I've already got it on order.

Thanks, replaced the flasher and everything works great. That is a very uncomfortable repair job...
