Hey Guys,
my 94 FWB got it's ignition stuck in the lock position. I tried both sets of keys. The ignition turns forward and back to accessory, but does not start or release the steering column lock.

Any thoughts???

Thank you,
Nick (aka bmwnick)

have you tried turning the wheel as you turn the key? This happens to mine, especially if the wheels arent straight, pressure on the steering lock mechanism.

There is an aluminum 0-shaped part inside the column which transfers rotation of the key to the ignition lock by means of a rod. That aluminum part is known to crack and later fall apart. Disassembling the column to replace that part is a headache.

That picture has now caused me to develope a wet spot. Those wheels would look sharp on my Goldie. VERY NICE RIDE! Sorry for the thread jack but it had to be done.
