As the thread title states, I changed the shift solenoids (a+b) out in my 94 Eldorados 4T80E, got the check balls situated properly (did it assembling the valve body upside down), installed the L bracket that came with the kit to hold the new filter in place, put it all back together, filled to proper level on dipstick - reverse works great, but D, 3,2 and 1 do nothing. Neutral is fine.
Any ideas?
No codes are set. Really need to get this thing moving again tomorrow. Fluid was not burnt really or dark. Deep red, smelled fresh.
Thanks!

Does this sound like an issue with the check balls?
I really have to get this car moving.. The police are now bugging me.
Thanks!

Well, after having no damn idea what was wrong I just pulled it all down again.
Check balls were positioned correctly, fluid level was right, no BS in the fluid.
Put it all back together, filled her up: WOOHOo! We have forward gears.
But why? I did NOTHING different. Any ideas, folks?

I'm stumped. I think someone once said valve body torque settings where critical, but I'm not sure. That's all I can think of.

Valve body torque settings are important. Torque is in the 8 to 12 ft/lb range. it is really easy to overtighten bolts and bind it up. You are lucky it worked the second time.
