I've got the OEM AM/FM tape deck radio in my '92 - and am installing a Sony RF CD changer in the trunk (plays through the stock radio and uses the antenna as input to the radio) - my question is this -

Where does the antenna lead convert to a "thin wire" which connects to the radio? I pulled the radio out of the dash (fairly easy) and could not for the life of me find an antenna input -

In the trunk it looks like a normal antenna cable - but apparently it doesn't make it all the way to the dash -

Any of you know where this magical conversion takes place?

The radio is on the 'electronics rack' in the trunk, up against the back seat, on the lower right.

What does this thin wire mean? I'm going to do the same thing and would like to know all the pit falls.

Harry, thanks much, if it's not snowing when I get home I'll take a look there -
As for the "Thin wires" - there is no antenna jack on the radio itself - so apparently it terminates in what Harry calls the "electronics rack" and takes a more streamlined path to the radio itself. Note - mine is not the Bose system - so if you've got that opion your experience may differ. I discovered this "feature" after I'd pulled the shift lever off, taken apart the console, removed the two nuts that held the radio in place. Needless to say this was an unwelcomed surprise (but it did give me the opportunity to take the black tape off the moving part of the shift plate and replace it with material that wasn't ripped and mangled).

I did mine a couple of months ago, and when I got into it, I went to my local audio installation store and they all the schematics on cd, and they printed a copy out for me. It was VERY useful! Food for thought!
