92 Seville Check Engine Light Flickers

The Check Engine light just flickers once and goes out when I first turn on the ignition. It should remain on until I start the car. This caused me to fail my Smog Test even though the technician completed all the tests and it passed. I just have to get the light to function properly and I can get my certificate; any ideas, could it just be the lamp?

If you passed all the tests and your just looking to get your certificate, you could just pull the bulb in the cluster go down get it emissionsed then put the bulb back in and get the problem delt with.
Any codes stored?
I don't know how to ckheck for codes, but the message center says all systems are OK. The light just won't stay on when I first turn on the ingnition, something in the lamp check circuit probably. Is there some lamp driver that's failing? How difficult is it to change the bulb? I could swap it with another indicator lamp and see it that changes anything. Thanks
Pulling the bulb is not going to be easy.

Simultaneously press and hold the OFF & WARMER buttons to display the codes. After the codes have been displayed, HIGH FAN = YES and LOW FAN = NO to the prompts.
I have 4.9L 93 seville and the check engine light does the same quick on off flicker, and I have no problems with emissions test. Since they don't scan pre 96 models, why does the service engine light matter at all. You passed plain and simple. Maybe those years all do that same quick flash thing. I hope I shed a "quick flash" of light on the subject.

Thanks, I'm with you but I couldn't convince the technician that it's correct. It may always have been this way. Maybe I should try a different Smog Station.
