I'll take the risk of sounding like a moron by asking this. I recently bought a 92 Eldorado and I'm in the process of fixing the things that need done. Like leaky rear struts, a dead window motor, and a totally shot A/C system. For some reason though, what I really miss having in this car is keyless entry. My question is, was keyless entry standard for a 92 and I didn't get the fobs ? Or was it an option that I may or may not have ? And how would I find that out ?
Any help would be appreciated. I hate not having this on my car.

I would check eBay or cars around the lot and see if any didn't have keyless entry. Don't you have a users manual? Wouldn't it say something?

Anyways the window motors dies pretty easily or the gears get stripped. I would use a multimeter and test the wire going into it to see if the power turns on when you use the switch. If it does the motor would probably be dead. Go pick one up from the parts store. Only 3 bolts hold it in.

I am having a little problem with the locks but i am more concerned about if i could get keyless entry for my car. Was it a standard feature? If not how do you know if your car has it?
The problem with my locks is that my driver side door doesn't work with the auto button to do both doors. I will tear it apart this weekend to check it out.

The remote wasn't standard, but it was real common. In the trunk, take down the carpet that covers the back of the back seat. On the left side, if there are 5 modules, 3 in a row on top and 2 below, the upper left one is the remote. It may say RKE on it, I don't remember. It's a pretty big box though. If it's there and working you can get a remote.
The door lock solenoid may be dirty. If you're lucky cleaning the contacts may fix it. Or maybe a pinched wire somewhere. Even if the solenoid has gone bad it shouldn't cost that much. I see them on Ebay all the time.
Good luck, let me know what you find.

If you have the Chilton's for 90-93 Cadillac FWD, a diagram of the modules is on 9-94. It's in the brake section. If not, I can get a picture of it tomorrow. Or I can scan in this diagram and send that to you.
