AC will not work. Fan runs, not low on r12. Outside air temp reads -40*. This will send a signal to turn the ac compressor off, right? I want to try replacing the sensor, but where the heck is it???? I thought it might be under the air cleaner but did not see it. Please reply with your opinions of why ac is not working and location of outside air sensor. Thanks in advance.

BTW, I am new to this forum so if this is the wrong place for this type of question, please point me in the right direction.

The sensor is behind the grill. Usually mounted on the hood latch brace. Replace it and your A/C will work again. A/C is disabled below 35 or 40 degrees so the system thinks it is not needed. Defrost overrides it, so it should work in that mode till you fix it.

Thanks RANGER. I really appreciate your help. I will look for sensor this evening after work and try to get it replaced.
