My father in law gave me his 85 Seville and I love it. The only thing is there are a couple of problems. 1) when idling the engine will rev up as if I'm giving it gas and the car feels like it's going to take off on it's own, the problem is worse when I run the AC or heat. 2) in the past few days I can smell melting plastic while driving, again it is worse when running AC or heat. 3) while driving the engine cuts out. 4) the taillights keep frying out, particularly when it rains. My husband has tried everything he can think of for these problems, but nothing has worked. We took it to a mechanic and problems #1 and 3 were fixed but not for long. I need help or I will have to get rid of the car. It has only 78k miles on it. My father in law was the 2nd owner. PLEASE HELP!!:banghead:

List what your husband and the mechanic have already done. We can go from there.

ABout the taillights...did your husband clean out the bulb sockets before he replaced the bulb?
