85 Eldorado fault code repair

Hello to all,
I am kinda new to this Caddy thing, but I am having a problem with my 85 Eldo.
I took it to a shop and they said that it needed a new ECM. I replaced it, but it still isn't right.
I keep getting code 18 (open crank circuit). I do not know how to go about fixing it. If I reset it, it comes right back on even while it is running.
I was watching the diagnostics while driving, the TPS is working fine, but the timing retards when accelerating and it feels real flat. The service engine soon light stays lit due to the code 18. When I monitor the 0.9, ignition cycles data, it stays at 0.
What can I do to repair this? I have to have it fixed by Friday (10-31-03) to pass the emissions test or they will revoke my registration.
Thanks,
Jimmy

I guess I'll have to junk it, I can't drive it with the registration revoked.

Did you have the timing checked?

Yes it is fine.
I did find the problem. I guess the old ECM blew the 3amp crank fuse. It starts much better now and seems to run better too.
Thanks,
Jimmy
