'84 eldorado-alternator problem

My 84 eldo has lost its mind. Started having problems with lack of charging. Replaced alterntor, connectors and scrubbed battery connections. Will stop charging after heavy load such as headlights. Called Alternator Manf said lead to dash light is critical to operation. this wire goes into the dash circutry.... how do I by pass this and get this altenator to behave correctly?

Need help quickly, wife wants to crush car for stranding her at night.

What made the alternator man suggest dash light wiring, from just a phone call?
