hey everybody, im lookin for a little help with some trouble codes im getin in my 82 deville. my girlfriend was drivin it the other day and it just died on her. now im gettin these codes.

code 20 - open fuel pump circut

code 25 - ????????

code 34 - MAP sensor signal out of range

the fuel pump isnt turning on at all so i thought i had a bad fuel pump, well i replaced it last night and it still wont start. when i crank it no gas comes out of the injectors. i was thinking i have a bad relay so im gonna test it at work tomorrow.

I cant find out what code 25 is ANYWHERE, i looked in my book, nothing. I've been looking on the internet for the last 3 hours, nothing. every list i look at skips over code 25 and its really starting to bother me. Does anybody know what code 25 means????

and the MAP sensor, does that mean that its bad and i need to replace it?? is there a way to test it? i already spent $50 to replace a fuel pump that didnt need replacing and i really dont want to spend more money that i dont have to.

If somebody can help me out here i would greatly appreciate it, i dont like to resort to taking my car to a mechanic and as it wont start i'd have to tow it, and i really dont have the funds to have this work done by a mech.

Thanks.

i finally found it.
code 25 - Manifold air temp sensor low voltage.

is this something where i just replace these sensors, or could there be something causing these sensors to burn up. the car has run fine till this. would these 2 sensors be causing the fuel pump to not turn on? i know the fuel pump is controled by the ECU and i know the ECU looks at all these things before allowing the car to turn on.

Manifold air Temp for code 25 is supposed to be for the 5.7L engines only. For the 4100 it's an EST circuit problem. Timing plug disconnected or something else wrong with the ignition system.

You probanly set 25 and 34 by cranking the car and it not turning over.
I would keep working on the open fuel pump circuit. This may sound stupid but did you check the fuse. If you crank the car are you getting current to the fuel pump wire? Under the dash on the left side where the main fuse box is, there is another fuse box behind it, up a little, against the firewall, it's rectangular shaped. In that box there is a 10 amp fuse for the pump and I think the relay is in the same box also. there is a legend stuck on that black plastic covering for under the dash. If the fuse isn't blown swap the relay with the leveling or power antenna one they're in the same box too... Good luck!!!

EST is electronic spark timing or something like that. Other things for that code are supposed to be bad HEI or ECM or loose wires. I guess basically the comptuer can't pick up the ignition system.

I was thinking the same thing as FASSTWOOD that maybe it's the other way around too. But I wouldn't have thought that any of those problems could make other ones come up.
