Tomorrow 800 years ago, we were at war with Estonia. Valdemar The Victorious was loosing the battle in Estonia in the year of 1219, but then our flag, Dannebrog fell from the sky and the tides turned. After this incident the nation adopted the flag.

Back then our nation included Northern Germany, Sweden, Norway, part of Poland, and most of the baltic countries.

Since then times have been tough on us.

I sincerely hope that your schools still teach past history - both for Denmark and the rest of the World.

Most of our U.S. stoonts - in all levels of "education" - have no idea what the American Revolution was all about, the origins of the Stars and Bars flag, what the real reasons were for the War Between The States, why we went into WW-II, or have even rudimentary ideas of why/how the government (is supposed to) work. We - like Germany, Japan, others - are busily engaged in burning/sanitizing our history and dumbing down the population.

At our present rate we'll never make it to 2076 - 300 years as a nation.

The college curriculum book Harvest of Empire opened up my Eyes about U.S history...

I was terrible reading history in high school, especially when we had history of arts and ideas.

I regret that a lot today and compensate by only reading history books (Erik The Red, Churchill, Kennedy etc.).

The schools are ok to show history and e.g. castles and manors from the feudal society are all around us - so easy to show in practise.

The problem is our working hours go up and the welfare state as a result takes over raising our children. It means the schools also have to teach "digital education", cycling in traffic, "finding happiness" (no shit) etc. Far from traditional topics.

US has nothing to be ashamed of. When my father retired I took him to a trip in Eastern US and we visited Capitol Hill. It is a really good democratic system but two things are against you if I compare to the real stable situation we have here (we just had election). The country is very big geographically, the population consists of so many peoples.

I can say our debate here considers a lot to assimilate fugitives and immigrants. If they stick together and keep their own traditions things will
come apart and we will forget what being Danish is. Im not saying this is correct or is a fanatic in any kind. But it is interesting to see how "globalism" will affect our nations in the long run. So far our borders are closed.

You are truly fortunate. I predict that, within 20 years, all in-country U.S. product packaging and instructions will be printed in 3 languages - English, Spanish, and Arabic. Within 80 years it will ALL be Arabic.

Yes, the U.S. is riddled with enclaves of several ethnic/religious groups that want nothing to do with being "American" - rather, their goal is the destruction of "America" from within and we blithely sit back and watch it happen in the name of "political correctness" - because the majority of our "leaders" could not - and do not wish to - govern/legislate their way out of a wet paper bag. They're too absorbed in their private pet political gains adventures to work for the good of the entire country.

Again read the book Harvest of Empire, and i have to say this is truly an ignorant point of view. And until you've met every single hispanic/Native (yes we were here before), and Arabic, then you're just painting them with a very broad brush in hope of satisfying a bigoted view (brown people bad).

We love when you visit us (and I love visiting US).
Correct it is in Frederiksberg Gardens where an old castle is at the end of the garden.

I have a cousin just around the corner from there and so I know it must be one of the most expensive locations in Denmark to host a wedding.

Nice to hear it was an experience.
