So I took my 78 Fleetwood Brougham on the freeway tonight. I haven't taken it past about 60 on the surface streets cause the speedlimit is 40 max, and I haven't taken it past 60 since maybe September.

Well the freeway speed limit is 65 in town, and I had it floored and it would only go 70 on a slight uphill. It just seemed to top out there. Now I've had it up to well over 100 in the past, so I'm wondering what's going on. Could it be unable to shift into 3rd? Any other ideas?

How does the engine sound? If it is revving really high, the trans is a possibility. If it sounds like its starving, check your secondaries, make sure they are opening. Mine just kinda stops at 80 when they are stuck shut.

The car's so quiet I couldn't really tell if it was revving real high, I might have to try again and listen more closely tomorrow. I'm fairly sure the secondaries open, because they did awhile ago, but I might try to check again tomorrow. Thanks.
