I have a 1977 Seville 5.7L 350 rocket V8 engine with efi. I need to replace my fuel filter which is a in line canister type. The problem is I cannot find a replacement. When I do a search it only display fuel filter elements parts but not the canister type that I need. I would gladly buy the element parts but now I need a canister to house the filter elements and I can’t find that either. I found what I need (Baldwin pf827) but it’s in Canada and they don’t ship to America. Does anyone know where I can find the in line canister type fuel filter.

Ray,
I just searched for the Baldwin pf827 and Amazon has them in stock. I know the filter style may be different dispite our cars share essentially the same EFI system. I'm including a photo of an AC Delco housing which looks nearly identical as my OEM filter located just in front of the tank. Based on mine the one in the photo is shown upside-down.

Cup only; looks like it's the same as in the assembly. I believe GM GF157 is the Fuel Filter cartridge only:

Here's the link to the Baldwin on Amazon. When I changed mine we measured the cartridge and a local parts place had one in stock which came with the seal for the housing.

This is what Rockauto lists specifically for the 1977 Seville:

It looks like it's designed for hose clamps so it shouldn't be too hard to find something which will work. If you cannot find something disposable there are some aftermarket reuseable filter housings with AN fittings. There are also adapters which go from AN to hose bead. Just be certain you find something which has a 10 micron filter element and is rated to handle the ~40psig your system puts out. I guess your car also has soft line before and after the filter. It may be obvious but make certain you buy EFI rated fuel hose.

Amazon application guides are not always correct. Rockauto is generally more accurate although I know of a couple of cases where it's flat out wrong. There seems to be no way to let them know and no way to review anything.

Assuming you know the dimensions there are some filter websites which allow you to search by size. Even though the part stores have gone mostly electronic some of them do still have paper catalogs and you may be able to find a page in a paper catalog which charts key dimensions and connection types. Can you take some measurements and post them?

Ray,
I wrote AN above but I should have written the aftermarket housings are typically referred to as ORB style fittings. If you go that route you would need ORB to hose barb or ORB to hose bead. They could be listed either way. Sometimes the most difficult combination is knowing what the parts are called and knowing what exists. I just did a conversion from carburetor to EFI on a car so I gained some experience figuring out what exists. I ended-up removing a reusable filter housing because I didn't think anyone made a 10 micron element for it. Well 30 days after I asked the question on Summit Racing but literally the day before I gave up and cut my line for a longer filter. The housings are very expensive but the brand I bought offer a stainless mesh 10 micron element which can be cleaned.

Ray,
The one you pictured has the newer quick connect fittings (push-on style). It looks like the adapters shown convert quick connect to AN fitting (probably 6AN). It's hard to see for certain in the capture. I think the following, from Amazon, are the adapters in that kit:

To use that filter directly you would need a push-on to hose bead adapter and I haven't seen those.

Is there any chance that you're looking at your second fuel pump and not the fuel filter? The in-tank pump is a low pressure pick-up pump and there is a higher pressure pump very similar in shape to the filter you're looking mounted on the frame (mounting position on the Eldorado at least).

When I was looking for an example of the fuel pump I came across a photo of an MSD EFI kit. I'm not suggesting the kit but take a look at the filter in the capture. It looks exactly like what you pictured! Maybe it's possible to buy the filter only as a service part. I would probably call Summit Racing. The capture is from Amazon:

Here's one with the proper connections on it directly from Summit Racing. I would phone them and describe what you have. If they ask the style reference this one. They may have one in the same size you need if this one is not already the correct size:
