Checked the 09 service manual and nothing has changed from the 1st gen V's. Detach the boot from the console by releasing the retaining tabs (8 total), then pull up on the knob until it comes off.

A direct quote from the manual LoL...

"Detaching the shift control knob from the shift lever may require a large amount of physical effort."

Actually, there are only 4 tabs. 2 towards the front and 2 towards the back. Just get your thumbs in between the edge of the boot and the console and pop it back. The knob, on the other hand, is requiring Super-Jim strength. And right now, I'm not sooper...

Is it possible to FUBAR your shift knob so that it won't come off, even with Super-Jim strength?

Back around Christmas, I pulled the knob off since I thought my Redline Goods shift boot would be in before I got back from my trip to Cali. But a few days after getting back, I needed to put it back on to drive it.

Tonight I spent 3 hours using every which method and type of leverage to get the knob off...and it's NOT coming off. I tried to examine the stock shift knob that I replaced on my V1 to see the inside shaft and see if I may have twisted or dislodged something that could jam the knob on the shaft.

I'm seriously considering ordering another knob and HACKSAWING this thing off....
