I have a 69 sedan deville and it was sitting for about a year with no serious driving. So I go to drive it and i didnt notice because it was daylight but the fusable link was melted. I didnt have door locks,windows,dash lights and tail lights. I need to know how many amps that thing was rated for and what could be the reason it melted. Also if I can get a factory replacement (have on from autozone and it is garbage). Or if I cannot get another one that is factory would a self resetting breaker be a better option. I have been having this problem for about 3-4 months. Right now i cannot roll down all four windows without poping the 30amp mini fusable link from autozone (it holds mini fuses).

since no one replied. I went with a self resetting breaker that is 50amps. I also think when this starter goes i'm going to replace the green wires that where part of the fusable link that went to the starter solenoid because I had to extend them due to the location of the breaker. IMO less connections the better.

The link was melted due to excessive current draw, something is bad downstream. 50 amps seems excessive to me, but not sure . You're gonna have to find a wiring diagram with wire specs on it. No factory replacements are going to be available, might find a used one but highly doubt it. With the age of all those wires by the starter I would replace them all, they get heat soaked over the years and cause problems and could very well be the cause of the link failure.
