I Know what you are thinking, this guy is NUTS! It's in perfect condition but this is all you can expect to get when you got a blown Headgasket and you already paid $2500 at the Cadillac dealership to fix it and it happens again 1.5 years later out of repair warrenty. Shame because I put new tires on it and a ton of stuff. Guy is coming to trailer it away tomorrow. Talked to my mechanic and he said it's getting harder to find parts for the 4.9 and he said he wouldn't even attempt a HG job on a Front wheel drive Caddy.

Man i would have taken that in 2 seconds and slapped ina rebuilt motor.
if the salvage yards here had one I might have done that too. That would have been a lot cheaper than going through the dealership.

BTW the GM dealerships here now charge $160 per hour Labor rates, it's getting crazy

My cousin wondered if a Northstar engine would have fit? No idea

Wow. I was checking out your car on Kijiji. Even had it in my watch list. Small world. I couldn't believe the work you have done to the car, as well as the mileage. Would have been a fun project. To bad I already have a couple. Can't believe someone got it for $500.

I paid $500 for my '87 Brougham, which I thought was a good deal, and it is in worse shape than your Fleetwood. :-\ It needs an engine, as well as someone tried to steal it before I bought it. I sure would have bought the Fleetwood had I known that price. Haha.

But it seems like everyone around here wants something for next to nothing. I've been trying to sell my '91 Cavalier Z24 (running and driving, just rusty), and people either want to trade, or want it for little to nothing. I sort of gave up on selling it right now. Just like your car, it also has had work done to it.

exactly! Saskatchewan people are so cheap, I got fed up with non-serious people in Kijiji, I even had a 17 year old want to make payments towards it haha

Well cheap bastards are everywhere. It's hit or miss sometimes selling a car on who is interested.
I did finance a Buick for neighbor kid... Sat in my yard until he paid it off. He missed one payment but after a talking to he learned a lesson(i both charged a late fee and berated him for not just asking to miss a payment but to ignore me was unacceptable).
As for the low ballers I have went in knowing I was doing it and have had a couple people agree to my ridiculous low price on the spot. I have also been told off a few times...

haha well said, although I don't think I trust anyone to make payments, at least it sounds like you knew te family maybe so that's not so risky then.

When I saw the date and started reading through the thread I was looking for your "April Fools!" post .....

Guess it's not a joke. In which case, sorry to hear about it Ralph. It's sad to see such a pretty car lost to mechanical failure/financial impracticality.

That's what they are bringing if they need a trailer to transport.
I watched a 1995 DeVille about 60 miles from here go for $500.00 It looked clean, they claimed it needed a transmission.

That's a shame. How many miles were on it when the headgasket let go? BTW I thought the 4.5 and 4.9 cars were pretty bulletproof and didn't have that problem.
I know I'm still hurtin' over this crap. 75,000 miles or 122,000 Kilometers and the only thing I can think of that caused it was the pre-2010 Dex-Cool Orange long life coolant because there were a ton of lawsuits over this stuff just google "Dex-cool Headgasket failure". I had the coolant in my Buick changed in October and I'm doing it every 3 years no matter what the mileage just to play it safe ----------

yA we had some fun in the past, but this is legit lol. I can post the bill for $2500 from the GM dealership and that only lasted 1.5 years!!! Blah ----------

whoa. Yeah this guy that bought it drove it to the other side of town to a buddies place and he works on cars apparently. I wish I had friends that can just rip appart an engine like that who owed me a favour! ----------

Is it sad that I'm still a member on this forum but yet I've driven all Toyota products since 2012 . . . . . . A 1993 Toyota truck(172k) and a 1992 Lexus SC300(85k). Yet I have no worries about my cars starting or costing me a huge random repair bill or having some major mechanical failure.

I love my old land yatch Cadillacs, but I cannot afford a new Cadillac, or afford repairs on one of these out of warranty RWD CTS, STS, or god forbid FWD Northstar cars.

As much as I love Cadillac as a brand, their reliability/cost of ownership sucks ass compared to a Toyota/Lexus once you get past 4-5 years of owning the car.

That is why I love older Toyota products. Maintain them, they will last, and not burden you with random expensive fixes. Even the complicated Lexus cars are cheap to service and maintain.
