$50 Fix for GM Garbage Shifter Trim

As some of you may have seen I inadvertantly scratched my shifter trim while installing a gauge. After seeing what GM thinks this part is worth I decided to explore other options. I found a company online willing to make me only the shifter trim portion of a stick on dash kit. I had it made out of real brushed aluminum to match the other dash pieces. Here is the final product.

I will try and upload some larger picture tonight.

Jimmy H - Mine does not look like what you posted. It looks identical to the texture on the steering wheel.
sorry, that's a picture of my V, it's an inside joke for us old-timers

Check out that SWEET steering wheel wrap!
I had a similar thing happen to that trim piece too. Being in the florida heat, it got all scratched up, the coating got soft and all mangled. it looked like ass. Instead of covering it tho, I got some magic eraser, and it just went at the trim with that. it took the coating off, so now its more of a rich black plastic instead of the dull rubber look. I like it, ill take some pics too.
The trim on my shifter bezel is peeling in the same fashion as mentioned here. How did the magic eraser method work out? Photo? The darn shifter is also starting to rotate on the shifter shaft, and I'm not shifting aggressively. Serious quality control issues GM.

The brushed aluminum trim piece looks nice. Do you have a link to the source?

(I know the thread's over a year old)
Heads up everyone, this picture is an exclusive CadillacForums classic.

50 years from now that picture is still going to be making its rounds, isn't it?

Just google dash trim. There are hundreds of places online that sell it. But trust me, it looks HORRIBLE on the CTS. There are some cars those kits look really good on. My Pilot is an example. The wood applique looks very classy in the Pilot. In the CTS, it looks like cheap plastic.
I can see a guy wearing MC Hammer pants driving that car..........

I have similar kit in my car. When I posted a picture of mine, it started a fire storm. Some suggested I should be banned, questioned my tasted, made references to Obama's caddy. I think that thread spawned the three separate sections of the forum that we have now.....

Glad I could help :)
I doubt it. The general population here generally despises anything cosmetic.
