Hello all,

I was thinking about stopping by summit racing and getting some cooling upgrades:

Intercooler Pump: WP136S

And replacing the cooling system is Evans NPG+ or NPG-R

Install Spectre intake, then maybe shoot over to Tim's to have the pulley installed. Then shoot over to Wait4Me to get a tune. What is everyones opinion on this?

Sounds good. As you know I am doing that heat exchanger and my Intercooler radiator should be here today as it is on the FedEx truck for delivery. I bought mine from Frozenboost and I have the Flex-a-Lite sitting in my garage already.

:hide:I am going to wait on the pump as I am not totally sold on the WP136S yet. I think it may flow too much for us and not remove enough heat because the flow rate. I have heard the debate so save the argument. I am not sold on the WP136S. I think a 9gmp just may be a better option.

Again, that is just my opinion on the pump.

I am going to install the Heat Exchanger and upgraded Radiator in the next couple of weeks. I have made a gauge on my HP Tuner to monitor my IAT2 temps and will report my findings once I am done with the install.

Excellent. Maybe ill just wait for you. How much did you pay from frozenboost? And do you know of a pump that does 9gpm? I thought the WP136s was alittle overkill as well.

It was $179 + shipping and I am still looking at my options on pumps.

The ebay heat exchanger is an air-air core with water tanks welded on. The one I sell is better-it is made to cool water.

The flex-a-lite linked is way too small. The stock one is better than that.

I won't get into the argument (too much) but more pump is better. More time in the heat exchanger is just more time in the blower for the water to get hot.

Tell me again how the stock is better because the 45321 is way too small:hmm: The Cooler on the left in the photo is identical to the 45321 besides the fan as the 45321 does not come with a fan and the 45321 has copper turbulator tubes for improved heat transfer. The one on the right is the stock unit.


Here is a photo of the actual 45321.

The ebay picture shows a 4 row cooler. I didn't read the description.

Looking at the picture of that one compared to a stock unit what is the advantage? They are the same size and thickness. The stock one has more fin-tube contact.

Actually they are not. The stock one is about .5" or smaller (I have not measured it yet)and the Flex-a-Lite is 1.5" and holds more coolant so in theory it should cool the fluid more since there is more surface area to dissipate heat. Then throw in the turbulator factor and copper tubing and it should be more efficient than the stock unit. Granted there is debate as to the tube and fin vs a stack design and I am not going to get into that as I have no direct knowledge and it would merely be speculation on my part. The inlet and outlet are the same on the 45321 as the larger FMIC that I am going to use so there should not be any flow restrictions. I will also upgrade the pump at some time. But I wanted to do it in steps to measure the results. If need be I can always take out the Flex-a-Lite if it is in fact a restriction in the long run.

I am toying with the idea of a 50 or 55. The 50 has an adjustable circuit so I think that would be the way to go because the FMIC I am using has a Temp bung welded in and with HP Tuner I can monitor the FMIC temp via a Custom PID. If you just want to put in a switch or run it Ignition on you can use the 55.

Both of those are Flex-a-Lite fan BTW

It would be on regardless of temp. It draws 7 amps max so it would need a relay to not be such a draw on the Ignition system.

Im getting by heat exchanger next week got it off eBay cx racing. It has big end tanks to hold more fluid $204 shipped. Also sending back my wp136s to summit way to much flow for our set up. Also got a new pump from cx racing. $87 shipped 8gpm. I'm only going to run the new exchanger and just get rid of the stock one. Ryan

If it wasn't so hard to install I'd do the Flex-a-Lite first and log results but pulling the front clip to install it sucks.

I thought it might help in stop and go traffic and at the track in the staging lanes?

A fan will be nice on the dyno but will actually block air if you are moving down the road at more than 40mph or so. I would not do a fan.
If thats the case then that would save $100
