Melling M182 oil pump has been discontinued and not near parts store online or instore knows what alternative part will work. I have a 95 Deville 4.9L engine that I have replaced every other engine part only to hit a brick wall when it came to the oil pump. I have called Melling and they don't know what direction to point me in. Waiting to hear back from GM via email. This is beyond disappointing and hoped to possibly find an answer here. Please and thank you.

Best,
Marie C.

That's surprising to me. I did a quick search and it does seem to be impossible to find. You might have to think outside the box a little. I think I would take it apart and see how bad it is. If nothing is obviously wasted I would re-use it I guess. If the oil pressure seems low then I would experiment with some heavier oil. I don't recall the bearing clearance off hand. If it's .025 you can use about anything. If it's .015 then that will limit how thick you can go. An NOS oil pump may turn up in the next 6 months to a year on ebay.

They no longer exist. You will need an oil pump from an 85-90 4.1 or 4.5 and probably the pan from a 1990 Deville to play it safe. The older style 4.1 and 4.5 oil pump and longer driveshaft are still made and is forward compatible with a 4.9

Update: we went with mellings m132 with a few modifications as using a plate from the old pump, m182. It pumps but it didn't reach the top of the engine and blew all the oil out. Other than a clogged oil filter which I'm sure it's not, (we have a shade tree mechanic helping us and I will ask him to be sure) what else would make an engine do that? The pump isn't strong enough? That's the way it was performing with the old oil pump as well. Thanks in advance.

You may want to look at Smouspollutus idea in post #7.
What made you decide that you had oil pump problem in first place.

you need a real mechanic. If the oil pan is properly installed and gasketed there is no way it can leak oil regardless of what the oil pump does, Maybe you have a hole in the oil pan from a connecting rod? If it is blowing the pan gasket out you have a much more serious issue than the oil pump. Is it possible it is the rear main seal leaking that appears to be an oil pan leak?
