4.2TT performance upgrades

Hi All,

New owner of 2019 CT6 4.2TT.

Is it possible to upgrade to "V" performance by changing the exhaust and retuning with a V tune? If so, how?

If not, what performance upgrades would you recommend?

Thanks in advance

Welcome and congrats on the 4.2 purchase! Those are very rare as you probably know, especially non-V models. I’ve been CT6 shopping for 6+ months now and almost never see the 4.2TT as an option. Is yours Platinum trim level?

Just curious, did you find it locally or at a distance, and travel or have it shipped? I’m in the middle of the online shopping & purchase process myself, so I’m interested to hear others’ experiences.

I’m sure someone else will be able to comment on the V performance, but I wanted to pop in and say congrats on that CT6!

I own one. I bought mine new and went with the platinum over the v because i wanted supercruise.

There were a total of 1475 CT6 built with the Blackwing motor over two years. 466 are platinum Blackwings like ours. The rest are V models.

I had the dealer install the limited slip diff for a V on my platinum blackwing when it had 700 miles on it. Covered under warranty as its a gm part and installed by dealer. This is the biggest benefit as it greatly aides in traction.

There is a used one for sale on ebay off a GM ct6 v test vehicle that had very low miles. AWD 4.2L Rear Carrier 2020 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport Blackwing 2134812 | eBay

The exhaust can be installed but it will be either open or shut as the computer can't control the valves.

There is no way to program the v tune for our cars, and no one offers a tune as its not worth their time with such low production.

The only performance difference between our cars and the v is the limited slip diff, valved exhaust and tune.

Options difference on a loaded V vs our cars would be super cruise. leather dash, door panels and seat backs. Recline rear seats and 4 massaging seats. Suede headliner.

It would stay open or closed, however the tech sets it. May be a way to rig a cable? I don't know how the exhaust works. There are videos to hear the exhaust or find a local v. Better off just having a shop replace the mufflers with something louder aftermarket.

There are no tunes. No one can tune it because no company ever created software to unlock it. All shops use software like hp tuners for example and there is none for our cars. It's not possible to tune our cars.
