Can someone tell me what a 2000 Caddy Catera does in the 1/4? I have 92 3000 GT 5 spd and my friend thinks he can beat me. I think his car is stock except for some type of exhaust work. My car only has cold air intake. Both cars have a 3.0 DOHC 24 Valve V6 and i'm not sure on how much the Catera weighs. I have been in his car and it feels a little more torquey than mine but also feels a little heavier... any comments?

Catera specs are 3770 pounds, 200hp @ 6000rpm, 192tq. @ 3400rpm. Dunno what it will do in the 1/4.

3000gt specs are 3219 pounds, 222hp @6000rpm, 201tq. @4500rpm.

You should be able to win unless you really suck.

You might want to give the Catera about a 2 second head start just to make it a bit closer. Then you can wave at him as you blow his doors off.

I love my 97 Catera

My mod list: 2.5 super single Magna Flow custom exaust, Ice Man custom cold ram air Intake with Tornado Air Managment, radiator cover removal unit and intake air temperature sensor mod. Car has all new gaskets, spark plugs, oil's, coolant and other etc's. Soon to have Random Technology free flow cat's, custom headers, carbon fiber hood and trunk, 17 ich For Racing Rims with all season hight performance tires, Koni and Ibach suspension and more etc's. Now I would say I put out around 230hp not duno tested yet. With some trany work on top I am hoping to see up to 300hp.
Car's I taken of starts are:

Lexus is300
Ford Thunderbird LX
Acura Integra LS
Honda Civic's
and few more

I am happy to hold down Cady that Zigs comunity around where I live.

Good luck on your race

Well we got to race today and I won by about 1 car length up to 60mph. My friend is now looking to get a cold air intake to even things up a bit...

sound like fun

Well I raced my friends Lincoln Mark 8 which if you dont know have older Mustang Cobra engines in them. Very powerfull. I beat him by about 1 to 2 cars 0 to 60 so I am happy about that. I wish I can race you and your friend Catera too.

good luck

Good kill... the mods on your car must have made a big difference because I know I can't hang with either a 4.6 DOHC Lincoln or 4.6 DOHC Northstar Caddy... especially from a roll or top end runs. I raced some young guy in an STS on the freeway and got killed pretty bad.

Thanks buddy.....

It took me allot of time, money and skill to get to where I am at. Another few good races I had today on free way after work. During night time when air gets cold that intake and exaust combo I got really performs well. I surprisingly done up Lincoln Ls in top end going from 60MPH to about 110MPH. Even that I would probably slightly lose to it off start 0 to 60 I still got him on free way. But to prove that my car does have some power at same time I beat Lincoln Mark 8 LSH I belive its called too long of name 0 to 60. So performance I am happy for now. I will improve to faster and more expensive cars one day but for now I am having fun with my German inspired 4 door sport oriented Catera with 2.5 super single Magna Flow custom exaust, ice man cold air, air intake modification mod = chip, 50pound weight removal, tuning and some moding the look of the car like tinted windows, removal of fog lights, polished 2 box exaust tips and few more etc's.

Not bad for 235+ aprox HP Catera.
Also for a 19 year old who works for it in and out.

Soon: More HP mod's. CAT"S (random technology prob)
Improved air filter over K&N (ram air upgrade prob)
Fuel Injectors upgrade (need more reserch)
Custom headers ( way late next year)
300HP, more maybe up to 350+ who knows need to dyno sometimes

Few more upgraded before suspension and rims and tires and some bodie work and weight reduction, lights and etc's.

Then if not enough HP and MoD's ZEX or Other 50HP shot.

Ls1 Catera Project

Good luck to all and stay safe.

By the way to that Alante owner that was starting to talk bad about Catera early on good luck man because I think we should race once I get my Ls1 conversion up to 450hp with those ZO6 mods that car go in that crate Chevy engine.

Or maybe we should race with what ever mods I can still keep on bolting on my Opel Omega gesigned V6 with about 300Hp

Then we will see who will blow doors out of who.

Dude, He'll bet you for the initial start out-he's got rear wheel drive, yours is front, after the first 4klm you'll pass him by unless you have a big POS.

Ummm dude, the Catera is rear wheel drive... :hmm:.

Plus, I hate it how people think the Catera is just SOO Bad... you get the same thrills going up to 60 as you do with a northstar powered caddy.. i bet you could only tell a little difference! (no V8 roar :p ). See, the Catera has a variable intake system, and above 4000 rpms, it opens up fully and you get the max air going into a "ram air" type intake system. My lord, it starts runnin up the MPH then.

Any cars have problems if you dont take care of them, you ever think about how many recalls Ford's have each year? And a majority of them run fine if you get them done!

Dont second guess a car, if you havent test drove it.
