'25 Escalade IQ blind spot

Love the car with one major exception. The right side , passenger side, has a horrible blind spot. The mirror is of no value, I believe it is incorrectly placed on the car. The blind spot sensor is inaccurate and makes for right lane changes very difficult. The mirror doesn’t appear to have the “objects are closer than they appear” type of mirror which makes it even more dangerous. We have had two EXTREMELY close calls. Really needs a second look by Cadillac.

It can't have that Mirror you are mentioning because of the Vehicles weight class. Regulations prevent it from having it.
Also I ask how do you have the mirror positioned? You should see just the hint of your passenger door handle in the bottom left corner.
I was not aware of that restriction. Both my husband and I have tried to adjust the mirror many times. It really feels like the mirror is in the wrong place. My adult daughter said she does not feel comfortable driving the car because of the poor visibility. The sensor is inaccurate. Many times it doesn’t come in at all and if it does, the car is already in a complete blind spot. The only way to see the vehicle in the blind spot is to turn in the turn indicator. It feels very unsafe. Not sure if it is enough to get rid of the car I’m going to give it another month and see if I can get used to it. My husband has suggested putting the little round mirror on the mirror to help.

One thing I think all of us should remember. This is a totally different kind of vehicle for GM. It’s bigger than they ever have had for a passenger vehicle. And it’s extremely heavy. So to some degree they are still learning about how to build it. And customer feedback is how they learn. I was happy to see the customer support team in this post. This is what is needed.

Thank you for posting this!!! The horrible blind spot was definitely one of my biggest worries after driving it off of the lot. You really need to use the camera indicator, which is just another step and distraction, in my opinion. In another forum, someone mentioned that you have to place the mirror in a position unlike any other car in order to hit the blind spot. Which is bizarre that a car like this would have such a glaring issue. I also agree with the sensor. Sometimes it just doesn’t register that there is a car next to me, which is kind of disturbing.

I purchased one of those little tiny suction cup mirrors that give a much better angle. I actually made my teenager who is not driving yet. Sit in the driver seat and see the difference and understand that cars can have blind spots. It seems to be doing much better with that extra little mirror while it’s unattractive, it is effective

Has anyone found resolution to this? Hugely concerned about this. Was terrified driving my IQ home from purchasing it on highway and changing lanes on main roads. Not to mention, it’s merely impossible to see my garage when reversing in and out on the passenger side. Can they provide a wide angle lens replacement for this mirror?

@Meg78 SCREAMS-n-FAINTS!!!! If you didn't say anything I would've never seen that white car in the mirror......JESUS!!!! Even from the jump I knew the Escalade wasn't the vehicle for me because it is too big for me. If I do wind up pulling the Cadillac EV trigger it will either be the Lyriq or VestIQ but as of now it is looking like for me to be the Rivian R1S or Lucid Gravity...

Definitely not a dealer issue, Iv reached out and they just say “yah try a blind spot mirror”- loving this car but it’s absurd and a useless mirror I cannot fathom the logic behind this design choice. I really hope it is resolved / and the lens recalled/replaced. I put a blind spot mirror on which is absurd because now I basically only use this tiny 4x6 mirror for all visibility and renders the big mirror useless and a waste.

The choice was made by law/Regulations. There is a GVWR requirement that determines the type of mirror. GM might be changing this or got an exception for the 2025 Silverado EV(as some are reporting a new passenger mirror vs the 24s). Have to see if that comes to Cadillac.

Btw when adjusting the mirror it is said you should see the Door handle in the bottom left.

I have considered trading in the IQ for a gas version for the single reason of the passenger mirror. I almost had an accident, and I've missed my exit many times for fear of cutting someone off (where you're just not confident its clear). As you all have mentioned, not only visibility issues, but depth perception.

GM - My wife won't even drive it.
GM - I've told other folks considering the car its a huge issue.

The dealer said they won't touch the mirror b/c of the weight/NTSB/legal deal. So I guess an aftermarket mirror is what we're all craving!!!! Please someone help us!!!

Also, for the record, I LOVE the car otherwise.

Hey everyone,

I’m reaching out because I’m dealing with a serious string of issues with my 2025 Escalade IQ, and I’m hoping to hear from others who may have experienced similar problems.

Here’s what’s been going on:

  • Delivery Delays & Mechanical Issues: My vehicle wasn’t delivered on the promised date because of a scraping noise from the ball bearings. Not the best way to start off with a $130K car.
  • Sensor Malfunctions: After delivery, the sensors kept going off at 6:30 a.m. every morning, waking up the entire neighborhood. It was eventually fixed, but still, not ideal for a brand-new vehicle.
  • Complete Power Failure: Fast forward to now—I had the car plugged in to charge for 24 hours. When I came out to unplug it, the car was completely dead. The key fob didn’t work, and nothing would respond. I had to have it towed via flatbed to the dealership, where it’s been sitting since April 28th.

According to Florida’s Lemon Law, if a car is inoperable for 15+ days, it qualifies for lemon law protection. I’ve only had this car for 109 days, so I absolutely won’t be keeping it.

Another issue is the blind spot, which is dangerous for a vehicle at this price point. It’s just one of the many things that’s been frustrating me with this vehicle.

And yes, @RudyF6, I’ve already contacted the dealer, sent emails to Mary Barra at GM, and reached out to their social media and customer relations teams. This vehicle should’ve spent more time in engineering before being released. Initially, I was told that the entire battery needed to be replaced, but later I found out that was a mix-up with another Escalade IQ on the lot. Turns out mine needs a whole new module.

Has anyone else dealt with these types of issues, or have any advice on next steps?

I can sympathize with your frustrations. I had problems with:

Glass break sensor setting off alarm at all hours of the AM.
Poor fit,finish, paint defects.
Water leaks
Wheel Bearing/Hub Noise
Software issues, bluetooth, navigation.
Mirror Blind Spot
Memory functions for seats, mirrors etc. not working
Air suspension not releasing air and getting stuck in highest position.

Last straw for me was when my wife left her job late at night and it refused to unlock with the keyfob or app. I had it bought back with 2000 miles on it. I would advise everyone to stay away from it. It's a beautiful truck to look at but terrible to own. I don't understand why certain people defend it as a first year ev. When you spend over 100K on a vehicle it should work. I spent over 30 days in service out of the 60 days I owned it.

I Listen to all three of those points and none of them would be deal breakers for me on a YEAR ONE vehicle. Sorry for your issues I wish you had a better experience with it but nothing here surprises me or "alarms" me.

All of those have been noted on a few cars, and that last point is a 12V battery issue, likely caused by a misbehaving module as you now pointed out. How it gets resolved is also dependent on how competent your dealer is. 12V issues are unfortunately common on EVs.

The Blind Spot issue, is a unfortunate Side effect of following laws with the type of mirror allowed at the weight class the vehicle is in. That has to be worked out with GM and the governing body.

Fortunately, you have turn signal cameras and blind spot warning system to mitigate it some.

Nebula, you don’t help. As others have stated: are you even an Escalade IQ owner? Because if you were for $130k you’d be as mad and annoyed as I am about the cost of a car and how inefficient it is. Thank God I wasn’t on the highway with kids in the car or on a road trip while this thing died. I bought it because it was supposed to be reliable- which it’s proving not to be. Period. End. I’m in here to share my frustration and other people considering purchasing this vehicle.

Don't do it. I'm telling you right now. Save yourself the headache and frustration of it all. I am paying for a car that is sitting at the dealership waiting on a backordered part for a 3 month old owned vehicle. Wait or the second generation of this while they work out the problems. It's the 3rd issue. RUN. Go get the new Lincoln Navigator. This is a horrible product. It's only pretty to look at and drive when it works. 135 days total ownership - 30 days in repair = 105 days in your possession. It's at a 22.22% FAIL RATE.

I just got mine over the weekend- The passenger mirror as so dangerous! I understand that it is a regulation because of the weight but this is crazy. Only our gov would get it so wrong that a larger truck should be blind when moving to the right LOL. I drive big truck and trailers all the time so I am used to having to move carfully but I feel this is completly unessasary. I am going to try to find the biggest stick on convex mirrior I can to stick on it and will report back.

Omg! I feel vindicated that I’m not the only one. I just got my own last week and have spent over an hour trying to angle it but no matter what there’s no way to capture the main section you need to see. It’s too magnified. I love the car….but this may be a big deal breaker. I just joined the IQ fb page to ask about this.
has anyone found a solution other than learning to rely on the turn signal camera view?

you have to purchase small spot mirrors you can stick on the main mirror to see the spot it can't. Unfortunately GM has to comply with this regulation for GVWR.
