I was wondering since there is such a large opening of space between the standard 40 (245/40/20) height tires of the XTS Platinum...

Is it OK to just put the next size up 45 (245/45/20) height tires on the Platinum?

The sidewall height difference is .48" (less than half an inch) - so the total height (of the tire) difference would be .96" (less than an inch).

I know some people here have stated that they brought their XTS' into the dealer and they lowered the car by 1 - 1.5 inches.

So I am "assuming" that a less than .5" (sidewall height difference) in the 45 vs. the standard 40 tire - would be fine?

It not only would look a little better - but would ride a lot better.

How exactly did they lower it? Never heard of that. Maybe the rears with the height level control but not the front.
