My 2023 DE has a cracked glass roof. Garage parking at home, and covered at work. This seems to be a manufacture defect to me, any thoughts? I bring it to service tomorrow.

Don't look like stress cracks, they are likely impact. Had 2 tiny tiny cracks on my Tesla roof glass. Came off a larger truck dropping tiny pieces of dirt and tiny pebbles and rocks. Safelite can seal those and prevent them from turning into cracks that will expand due to heat.

Alternatively some States like Florida have zero deductible glass coverage if you carry Comprehensive. Safelite can do that too and due to newness of car, only factory glass likely to be available.

Good luck

The glass roof of my 2023 DE Lyriq developed a long crack. I thought it was a stress crack (covered by warranty), but Cadillac says it was a stone chip (not covered by warranty).

In any event, my car insurance will pay to replace it (with zero deductible, which is remarkable!).

The repair shop I was sent to (that does only sunroofs), after some investigation, said they couldn't do it and so I was sent back to Cadillac (okayed by insurance). My dealer has zero idea when the part might be available. It feels like this is the first Lyriq roof to be replaced....ever.

Anyway, just curious if anyone has experience with this.

Thanks. View attachment 651883

Today, 11/1/24 I was driving my new Lyriq with 300 miles on it when the Sun roof shattered on the freeway. I was traveling at 65 mph and it sounded like a bomb. Entire sunroof shattered with flying glass chipping the paint. Dealer in Thousand Oaks stepped up and gave me a brand new Lyriq loaner. Not sure if they will fix car or replace. Pretty frighting experience.

Same issue for me. The glass roof of my 2023 DE Lyriq developed a long crack. I thought it was a stress crack (covered by warranty), but Cadillac says it was a stone chip (not covered by warranty).

Anyway, just curious if anyone has experience with how long this might take? Everyone I encounter seems clueless...

Same on mine and same place, here is the thing it took one hour to replace and the glass company that the dealership hired only charges 350 dollars for the labour. Was back in my hands after a couple hours curing time. Not sure why some are saying it takes three days?????? Al products were GM certified and hasn't been an issue since. The dealership had dropped the headliner for the glass company that took an hour also just to be transparent.

As an update, Cadillac Customer Care reached out with very nice emails. However, don't get sucked in. They can't resolve anything. My roof is cracked, there is an impact point, I get that a rock flipped up and hit it. It's not like it's a windshield. If this roof is so fragile that it can't stand a rock glancing off, that is a very poor design. Do not buy this car!

You expect glass to be impervious? Stuff happens that is not the manufacturers fault. If it was damaged by a rock, file an insurance claim. Rock damage is NOT a manufacturing defect, so there should be no expectation of it being covered by warranty.

It is a relatively new area. Everyone knows windshield glass isn’t covered by warranty, but overhead glass is a new area. Pretty much everything glass isn’t covered, headlights being an example.

My car has the moon roof but I opened it when test driving the car and doubt I will again. I would not have a glass roof if I had a choice.

If there is no indication of any impact damage and it’s a crack, I think you could make a case for install error, but if there is a clear impact point, well I’d put it in the same category as windshield.
