Hoping that someone here may know how to solve this puzzle.
My liftgate operates as intended with the key fob and the button on the driver's door. It does not operate using the handfree function.
When approaching the rear of the vehicle, the Cadillac emblem is not projected onto the pavement and kicking under the rear bumper does not activate the sensor.
However, the emblem IS projected at night and the kick function will operate the liftgate.
Does anyone know what the problem could be and how to solve it. Thank you!

We want to make sure you are able to take full advantage of all of your XT5's features, including the hands-free tailgate function. Our team would like to help get you back into a dealership so they can take a look for you and troubleshoot. Did you have the same RKE (key fob) in your pocket both times you approached the rear of your vehicle? The RKE's have many features saved to them for individual driver personalization. That is not detailed in the Owners Manual.

The 2025 has complex handsfree liftgate operation compared to the 2020 I owned previously. Study the following pages from the Owners Manual and you will probably need to experiment with the operational requirements. Make note of the Approach Zone and the Authentication Zone and the description of leaving and re-entering those zones. I am guessing the system has been programmed to prevent accidental closure of the liftgate when moving around under the opened liftgate. I always had to be very careful when washing my 2020 because drying the rear bumper with the liftgate open would most always cause the liftgate to close on my back when bent over to reach under the bumper.

If i understand this correctly, is there no Hands Free closure when you are done. Seems strange because after taking a large or heavy box out, it is difficult to get a hand up to the liftgate to hit the push button.

Ric, The hands free close feature can be reactivated. However, I've decided to leave mine off. Shortly after getting the car, I had the lift gate open and had crawled under the car to remove the hitch receiver cover. My wife of 54 years wondered over to see what I was doing just as I got into the vicinity of the sensor under the car. The lift gate came down and whacked her on her head. She was NOT HAPPY !!! I've since made it open only, never again will I turn the close feature back on.

i have the 2025 escalade and I can only find in the system settings the availability to turn on the hands free opener or turn it off. No settings or hands free closing. The cadillac emblem no longer appears under the 2025 model. My 2023 has the illuminated emblem under the back to kisk open or kick closed. So far on the 2025 it is close only by key fob or reaching up to the button on the bottom of the liftgate. A ridiculous removal of the closing feature. Myself I used the auto close more then the auto open. I also notice other features missing on the 2025 Platinum model over the lower model 2023 Premium Luxury. I can only imagine that things were removed to cut costs for GM and on a luxury vehicle that is disappointing.
